MIDRASH (RABBINIC INTERPRETATION) AND ISRAEL - Jeffrey Spitzer
Midrash (Rabbinic Interpretations) and IsraelMany Jewish communities and college campuses have serious challenges having thoughtful and open conversations about Israel. How should Jews outside of the Land of Israel relate to those inside the Land and vice versa? How should we relate to non-Jews living in the Land? Fortunately, the rabbis wrote some amazing texts—interpretations of the TaNaKh/midrashim--which include lots of different and contradictory visions. We will study the voices in each midrash, and then engage each text and each other in open and respectful conversations about our relationship to Israel.(This class is geared toward 9th-12th graders.)
